Majuli the largest river island

Assam is a land of diversity. It provides you with varied culture and people, to begin with. When you start exploring Assam there might be a common confusion as to where to start with and where to stop. The answer lies in the first place that you should not effort missing out. The place would be Majuli. Already we know about the fact that it’s the world’s largest island. So what would be a better start than that… ain’t that, right?

Majuli attracts most of the tourist during the time period September to May as then the rainy season do not approach aggressively. This place is as unique as its terms to be. The smell of native Assam is found here. All the people here are basically the Assamese and are full of love.

SATRAS :

This island attracts the young generation the most especially those who are in search of peace by devoting themselves to the teaching of Shrimanta ShankarDev. To understand the depth of it; you might just go through its colorful satras(temple for Shankar Dev’s disciples which also acts as school) that are located there. The tourist generally loves being into those Satras as the essence of true Assamese religion is reflected upon there.

Some of the satras that are not at all advisable to miss out. They are –

  • Tengapania Satra
  • Kamalabari Satra ( the largest of them all)
  • Dakhinpat Satra
  • Garmur Satra
  • Auniati Satra

MASK MAKERS :

The heritage is rich you can have true love to know about its diversity. There you get to see the mask makers and interact with them bringing some of them home as a souvenir.

In Majuli there can be experienced a lot of wildlife too. The migratory species in this land are huge in number and provides a lot of colors. The best time to go visit and see is in between March-April.

Apart from that there is a bird’s sanctuary too which can be enjoyed to the fullest. Like who doesn’t like to view the beautiful birds isn’t it?

To conclude about the visit to this place all that I can say is that just go there and have a relaxed stay with the nature and the island views for the period. It’s something that you shouldn’t afford to miss out.
