CHAMKI FEVER: THE FATAL DISEASE :

Chamki fever is making a very serious impact on the state Bihar of India.  It is also known as Encephalitis Disease or Acute Encephalitis Disease. The symptoms of this disease are mostly usual but the results are a fatal one. The sudden rise in the death of people in Bihar has become a serious concern. We are therefore going to get the quick view of overall what Chamki fever is.

Encephalitis Disease is the one where the brain suffers from inflammation and itching happens. This disease generally affects the nervous and limbic system. The name has been given as Chamki fever because as the nerves get inflated so it is named as such. The fever happens by a virus that enters into your blood and gradually reaches your brain to inflate them. A huge number of cases have been seen from children to old suffering from this disease in Bihar.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

The symptoms for Encephalitis Disease or Acute Encephalitis Disease are as-

  • High fever
  • Headache
  • Vomiting
  • Confusion
  • Sensitivity to Light
  • Personality changes
  • Nausea
  • Memory loss
  • Drowsiness
  • In extreme cases paralysis or coma

WHAT CAUSES ENCEPHALITIS OR CHAMKI FEVER?

As per research made in India, it has been seen that eating litchi on empty stomach has made this virus enter the body. Basically, these are toxins named methylenecyclopropylglycine (MCPG) and hypoglycin  A present in the fruits which are un-ripened and if taken in a large amount that too in large amounts causes vomiting and nauseousness.

Generally, this disease affects people who are below 15 years of age or are of very old age. Seasonal variation and geographical variation leads to the occurrence of this virus.

Hypoglycin A has amino acid in it which is found in the seeds of the litchi which drops the blood sugar level to the minimum and results in causing Encephalitis disease or Chamki fever.

HOW TO PREVENT CHAMKI FEVER?

Like we all say prevention is better than cure so these are the major precautions that you are required to take to prevent Chamki Fever –

  • Maintain proper hygiene in order to avoid the germs to attack you easily.
  • The very mandatory thing to do is to take vaccinations to avoid the occurrence of the disease.
  • Try to use mosquito repellant. Mosquito bites are as dangerous as anything else that could be.
  • Avoid eating raw fruits on an empty stomach. Especially fruits like Litchi.
