Hello, guys, I hope you are are doing good. I am back with another blog post for you all. If you are planning to buy a new car in the mid range segment then you are in the right place. WOAH!!!! Let’s start. Today, I am going to tell you about the internet car MG HECTOR which is going to launch in India in June 2019.

The Hector packs a whole host of segment-first features, including MG’s iSmart connected car technology which allows for remote control of various cabin features like AC, tailgate release, opening and closing the sunroof, etc.

The Hector will be launched in a total of 15 variants and five color options. It is likely to be priced between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh and their rivals will be Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, the Mahindra XUV500 as well as the Hyundai Tucson.

The Hector will be offered with two engine options – a 2.0-liter diesel that puts out 170PS of power and 250Nm of torque and a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol that churns out 143PS and 250Nm. While both engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual as standard, the petrol engine will also come with the option of a dual-clutch automatic. The petrol motor will also be offered with a 48V mild hybrid system with an idle start-stop function to aid fuel efficiency and offer a torque boost for overtaking traffic.

PROS of MG Hector :

  • Multiple powertrains: Will get both petrol and diesel engine options at launch. The petrol engine will be available with automatic transmission as well.
  • Connected car: Brings segment-first connected car and safety features which can be controlled through a mobile application to aid safety and convenience.
  • 48V Mild Hybrid: Will debut 48V mild-hybrid system in the mass market segment with a 1.5-liter petrol engine. It offers a 12 percent improvement in fuel efficiency.
  • Size: MG Hector will be bigger than its peers, including SUVs priced much higher like the Honda CR-V. The longest wheelbase in the segment may make its cabin roomier than rivals. Its boot space of 587 liters is the largest in the segment.
  • Feature rich: Expected to offer features like a 360-degree parking camera, heated ORVMs, and mood lighting. Features like a panoramic sunroof, 10.4-inch infotainment system confirmed.

CONS of MG Hector :

  • No 7-seat version: Will be available in as a 5-seater SUV only. 7 seat version confirmed for launch sometime later.
  • No automatic with diesel engine: While diesel engines will be available across the variant line-up, it will be available with a manual transmission only. Buyers looking for the convenience of an automatic transmission will have to buy petrol, Hector.
  • Limited network: MG will more than 110 touchpoints at the launch of the Hector. The network is significantly smaller than Hyundai, Mahindra or Tata.
