Next up from Affalterbach is the A35 sedan, which is basically the A35 with a boot affixed. Highlights include a 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 305PS and 400Nm, taking the A35 sedan from 0-100kmph in 4.8 seconds. Underneath the sleek bodywork is the 4MATIC system combined with a 7-speed gearbox that splits the power (50:50) and sends it to both directions. Furthermore, Mercedes has also revealed that the A-Class sedan will be launched in India this year!

In the international market, the A-Class sedan is available with two engine options. The A 200 variant is powered by a 1330cc turbocharged petrol engine that makes 163PS of power and 250Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The A 180 d, on the other hand, gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 116PS and 260Nm, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Since the A-Class sedan will be a CBU import in the country, we expect the India-spec car to be powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines.

Talking about the price, the German carmaker has already confirmed that the new A-Class sedan will be priced between the CLA and the C-Class in the Indian market. So, expect a price tag of about Rs 35 lakh. When launched, the A-Class sedan will take on likes of the Audi A3.  It will also compete with the BMW 1 Series sedan, if the carmaker decides to launch its entry-level sedan here.
